Did you by chance go to SJU for college? just thinking of small Liberal Arts schools. Secondly, being such a fan of Thom Browne what do you make of the Thom Grey collection?
I attended Swarthmore College.
Some of the Thom Grey pieces look decent, but I don’t really understand the point of a diffusion line that barely diffuses. Marketing a second brand as youthful and affordable while maintaining very similar price points between the two seems as if a certain someone wants to expand market share, but is afraid of losing his cache, which makes me question the existence of the entire second line to begin with.
In essence, it’s somewhat analogous to manufacturing an ugly throwaway piece for a large box store to try gain mass appeal, but because the piece is still expensive relative to the other products in said store, the only people that purchase the item are those trying to capitalize on the name of the designer (eBay resellers).
I'm just a poor college student with not much spending money. What stores would you suggest for me to shop? Overall goal is to have a suit for every single day. Also where can I find affordable 32x36 pants. Thank you. Love your blog!!!
Suit Supply is your best bet for quality to price ratio, with regards to suits. As far as trousers go…what is your definition of affordable?
Hi! I bought a wonderfull Zegna Couture Suits and brought it to my tailor. As you may know the sleeves vents are undone, meaning the tailor should sew the working buttons on them. As I need them to get shortened, I was assuming you could do this with a 3k € from the bottom, especially that the vents are undone! Nevertheless my tailor told me, that there was the "typicall vent-shortening-problem", as there is not enough material to shorten the vent! Can this be possible? Whats the sense? Thx!
Hard to say without seeing the sleeves in question, but I find it hard to believe that your tailor couldn’t shorten them from the bottom. May be time to find a new tailor, assuming I understood your question correctly.
If you wanted to get a blue blazer custom made in NYC, where would you go? Assume budget up to $2500, although $1500 would be nicer. Thanks.
Manolo Costa can make you a blazer starting around $1800, but I have yet to order from him, so I can’t speak on the quality, personally. If you just want a classic navy piece though, the Isaia hopsack blazer at BG is pretty much perfect for a little over $2k.
I'm leaving my work in restaurants and am looking for jobs that require a tad bit more formal dress when interviewing. Anyways, I'm trying to find a suit with dropping a grand and haven't the slightest idea where to look. Any help?
Suit supply. They have suits ranging from $400-$500.
