r-p-t asked: Great blog. I have some Maine roots as well and love to see Portland getting some representation. Portland Dry Goods and David Wood are two of my favorite stores there. But on to my question: I am starting a new job soon and will be travelling pretty much weekly. I am wondering if you have any suggestions for nice shoes that will go well with a conservative business suit but are also "airport friendly" (ie, slip on an off easily)? Thanks!
Always good to hear from a fellow Mainer - I too am a fan of PDF and David Wood. For a city as small as Portland, it really has some great destinations. Seems to me that you are looking a nice conservative pair of loafers, for which I would probably stick to darker brown calfskin. One of my favorite pairs is the C&J Sydney, which is built on a sleek, but conservative last. For something a bit cheaper, you could try the Sanders Aldwych. Finally, you could try the Alden Plaza slip ons, which, in my opinion are a better shape than their standard pennies.
