Anonymous asked: Hey man, great blog! I was wondering how do you protect the soles of your shoes? Toe caps? Topy? Or fuck it? Reason I'm asking is I'm about to buy a pair of Church's chelsea boots, and I'm not sure how to proceed with taking care of the sole. I used topy on both my double monks and they're doing great, but the Church's will be my most expensive shoes to date (student) and since the sole is quite beautiful, topying seems to be a waste. Thanks and take care.

Really a personal preference - with chelseas you could either topy/toe-tap them which wouldn’t really be that big of a deal or just wear them as is and then get them re-soled when appropriate. You could even get dainite when you re-sole. I for one beat the shit out of my hard bottoms and rarely use toe taps. Also prefer looking the soles occasionally and wearing my shoes as they come, so I never topy either.
