Really depends on the stripe and pattern. I’ve seen it work, but it’s tough to toe the line between refined and busy. A light blue bengal stripe shirt would work with a navy windowpane jacket for instance, but a multi-stripe shirt with a glenplaid jacket would look pretty rough.

Overall, I’d advise keeping it pretty simple when experimenting and then branching out from there.
